@burrells5

Thank you for the information. I was on the Prolia for more than 4 years. Apparently the longer you are on it the quicker the rebound happens. I now have found a specialist but he is saying the same thing as the other one just to stay on the tymlos. I overlapped it with the Prolia but the Prolia ran out in May. So I have been off of it for 3 months. Still on the timelas has been 7 months on it. I am currently experiencing back pain after I was just starting to feel better. I'm extremely scared that I am starting to have the rebound again. I have talked to another doctor in the specialist office and they have ordered CTX blood test and an x-ray. I have to wait a week for the X-ray to make sure if it is the fracture it would show up. I am literally so upset I feel like I can't trust anyone

@burrells5 and @guinevere I just rewatched the video on YouTube by Dr. Ben Leder on "Combining and Sequencing Approaches to Osteoporosis." He talks about combining Forteo and Prolia. The two protocols discussed were Forteo months 0-9 and Prolia months 3-15 so both drugs for months 3-9; and the same with a high dose of Forteo. ( Tymlos is not discussed but could be substituted.) This latter combo was very effective! It takes only 12-15 months, for instance, to achieve a 15% increase in spine density. The anabolics cannot achieve this at all in 2 years; bisphosphonates would take 9-10 years (not recommended past 5) and Prolia alone would take 8 years. (I did get a 20% gain with Tymlos alone, in spine, so that is unusual apparently!) Note he does not discuss what to do after Prolia in that section of the video...

@burrelis5 what you have been doing is different than that but you did have intersection of the two drugs. Videos and books ("McCormick's Great Bones") as well as my doctors have said Tymlos is not a good medication to stop rebound and a bisphosphonate would be needed, probably Reclast. Or maybe your doctor will suggest going back on Prolia-? I am glad you are getting help with this situation and please let us know so we can all continue to learn. I hope the x-ray goes well.

@guinevere Dr. Leder is quite positive about the potency of Prolia. He says, as do others, that the problem is when you stop. He gives a strong warning about fracture risk when stopping without follow-up. People are staying on it for 8 years, even longer. I hope Prolia helps you! Since you have only done one shot maybe you could look into adding Tymlos though that would be different from the protocol Leder discussed. Protocols may have changed since he recorded that!
