Taking Miralax and Meta Mucil in the same day

@judithrae

I've been seeing a variety of practitioners since May first. My colonoscopy indicated "acute angulation of mid transverse colon" but my initial GI dismissed it as a problem & just prescribed Linzess. Now, after a 5day nuclear motility test w/0% transit of the large bowel... the colorectal surgeon says she is not ruling out the need for an operation. (I had a right hemicolectomy 12 years ago...2months ago my PT worried there were adhesions!) now the surgeon is away for two weeks. The various EHR portals are driving me crazy. My main question is are there options other than surgery for adhesions...& what does the surgery entail.
Thanks all! Judy

Hello @judithrae and welcome to the Digestive Support Group on Mayo Connect. You are asking a good question regarding abdominal adhesions. I can understand you wanting to find other treatment options. On Connect, we have many discussions on this topic. Here is a link to several of those discussions, I would encourage you to read these and feel free to ask questions by clicking on "Reply" under any post that seems helpful to you.

As this is your first post on Connect, please share as you are comfortable doing so, a little about what symptoms you are currently having that has led to these tests and led to an appointment with a surgeon.

Hi Judy,

Have you checked to see if any of your meds/supplements have constipation as a possible side effect? Chemical constipation can be quite strong and halt motility. I had that happen with too large a dose (for me) of melatonin.

Also, if that isn't it, note that I have a hypersensitive gut, IBS-C and a redundant colon. I eat porridge and soups a lot and drink warm liquids, among other things, for 2/3-3/4 of my calorie intake. That may help with any adhesions too.
