Stop Forteo before RECLAST?

@bonnies1999 so you did not do any follow-up medication after Evenity, for 6 months after stopping? My doc was okay with two months' break after Evenity, then Reclast. Some do Prolia but my docs don't use it. You'll be fine but talk to your endocrinologist about follow-up!

Hi (again) @windyshores and @bonnies1999

Windy, please don’t use the word “break” when discussing OP (lol, 😂 ). I had a Reclast infusion on July 25 - about 28 days after my last Evenity shots. When I made the appointment to switch docs, I gave the scheduler my history about “needing a follow up med pretty quickly” and they fit me right in. After the initial lengthy consult and quite a few labs, I was able to have the Reclast scheduled within a week.

I am surprised to hear that your docs don’t recommend Prolia (mine tried to shove it down my throat) - if I remember, you received Reclast on an abbreviated schedule, four visits, correct?

One thing about Reclast that has been established: The infusion needs to be given slooooooowwwwwwly. When I asked the infusion nurse about the timeframe, she said, “about fifteen minutes” which is about what I remember about previous infusions. However, my doc mentioned that the infusion should be given over a span of about 45-60 minutes. Happily I heard and remembered that or I would’ve had a 15 minute infusion.

@bonnies1999, did your doc prescribe only six months on Evenity? You should likely schedule a visit with your doc asap to see what’s next to keep your Evenity gains intact.

Cheers!
