Using MUSE as part of prostate cancer care

Haven't read here anything about the value of MUSE in PC care. I know it's not an option for everyone with ED, and it's super-pricey (I'm seeing $400-$600 for a six-pack). Efficacy, side effects? Thanks so much.

More commonly people use alprostadil as part of "trimix." Usually when people refer to MUSE they are referring to a pellet that is inserted in the penis opening as a way of dosing alprostadil. While it is an option, in general it hasn't caught on. Trimix is not FDA approved, is not prepackaged (because of shelf life), and so is available without reimbursement from compounding pharmacies that can mix it. Some of those are mail order. I switched from mail order to local and the cost dropped slightly while the freshness and refrigeration was more certain. I had to locate the local compounding pharmacy and request my urologist switch the prescription.
The cost is about $100 per vial, which lasts depending on dosage and refrigeration about five months, but is only rated by the pharmacies for one month. So if you use it 10x/month, that would be either $10 per dose following the pharmacy's expiration date or $2 per dose if used for 5 months as I have.
Since alprostadil alone is the same or less effective than trimix which includes it, assuming the delivery method is equally efficacious, you can see why MUSE has not "caught on." It was a creative idea, though.

I have used Tri-Mix Gel . It works great and best of all NO needles . Pricey in Canada though as our coverage does not extend to this drug. I think Men are under appreciated in NA in general . Look at Prostate Cancer research itself . More people.Men die of PC than people die of hideous Breast Cancer each year ...BUT PC only gets 5% of the funding of less in NA for research? What gives ? However the Tri-Mix Gel is a huge Turbo Boost for the guys that need it . BTW three shots on the goalie is possible with this drug ! 🙂 . Keep in in Freezer until needed and it will last 5-7 months . Make a deal with Compound Pharmacy . Negotiate a price !

I found that trimix was much better than the MUSE even at the higher dose. Neither one is covered but the trimix as explained can be frozen for a few months.
I wish there was a way to transport it more effectively on long flights
