Extreme pain in hands

For several months, I wake up in the middle of the night with the feeling that my hands are on fire! Upon waking in the morning, there is numbness and tingling. About 2 weeks ago, I woke up with the feeling that my left hand was broken with deep pain in the bones and joints of my fingers and into the palm of my hand. One of my doctors said I have developed "trigger finger" due to carpal tunnel, and he has referred me to a hand specialist. One of my other doctors recently ordered some lab work for me (for something else), and discovered I have extremely low vitamin B levels, and has put me on a regimen of monthly shots and oral supplements. I am now confused and extremely concerned that my hands are going to permanently feel like this. There is no improvement so far. My left hand still feels "broken" and the right one continues to go through periods of tingling and numbness. Could Vitamin B6 &12 help reverse this pain? Could there be permanent damage that will require surgery? I can't continue enduring the pain and have no idea what to do next.

@stefspad, since you don't have pain I'm not sure how much it would be helpful for you. I don't have pain but I do have numbness with my small fiber PN. I've been taking the supplements for a little over 3 years and feel they have slowed or stopped the progression of the PN in my legs. When I started it was a little below the knees and now seems to be at or slightly above the ankles and my feet are feeling a little better over the past 3 months or so since I started doing more exercises. The protocol of supplements is not a cure but it does help with the symptoms of neuropathy. Also, I would recommend running any supplements by your doctor to make sure they don't conflict with anything else you might be taking. Doesn't cost anything to join the closed Facebook group from their website and then read through the success stories of other members since there are close to 10,000 members now with various symptoms and neuropathy diagnosis. Just make sure you read the new member welcome when you join.

I too have numbness and tingling in my hands,I was a professional guitar player for more than--35--years,I've had to give up all part time gigs. I am retired from the Postal Service but living here in Key West where I born and raised---is now very expensive so many years ago I started playing music Thursday,Friday and Saturdays for more than thirty years,we were able to pay off our house but we have children that need help and---grand children too. I've been to several doctors and haven't found any help,plus I'm an older man so I suppose every one feels my life is about over?? Any help out there? I would appreciate any suggestions, thank you

I too have numbness and tingling in my hands,I was a professional guitar player for more than--35--years,I've had to give up all part time gigs. I know it must be frustrating not being able to find something that helps. From your earlier posts, it sounds like you believe the numbness and tingling in the hands may be related to the spinal infection you mentioned in earlier posts. I'm 81 and have neuropathy but it's mostly in my legs and only numbness and some tingling. I'm an older man also and have thought about where I'm at in life but prefer to just take it one day at a time and live the best I can.

The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy has some helpful information if you haven't already seen it - https://www.foundationforpn.org/living-well/. Are you still able to play the guitar for your own enjoyment?

Yes Mr.Bishop I do play at home for my wife and some of my daughters,when they come by to see us.{I have 4} I can only play about 1/2 hour, I've been holding a piece of ice in my hand for 10 minutes and it helps but I could not do this for --4--hours any more. I understand what you mean-you're -81--I just turned --83--in June, all my big Key West group of about 70/80 people call me from time to time asking I can do a wedding or a special party etc---but, no I can't, being born here and graduating from KW high school{1960} going in the US Army for --6--years and then coming home and becoming a mail man for almost 42 years was a great life for us, I knew every one here in some way. I get so depressed often, almost every week but what can we do--as you say just try to live day to day. Thank you for your notice, very nice of you, Bobby Pazo

I am having same issue. Started 3wks ago in Lt hand. Began w/slight swelling in palm just before pinky finger joint. W/in 1wk, progressed through entire hand and halfway up my fore arm. Swelling in hand so bad that my skin was tight/smooth with very limited mobility in hand/wrist. 1wk Prednisone pack abated the swelling approx 95%. So far blood work negative for anything and xrays clear as well. Currently have what y'all describe as SEVERE burning pain through entire Lt hand and fingers; only at night after I've been asleep for approx 2hrs. Dr prescribed percocet for pain but it doesn't even come close for relief. No changes in diet, we eat "clean" (Mediterranean), and active lifestyle with very limited to no alcohol consumption. Any ideas?
