Total Knee Repair Revision: A Success Story

@cathymw

I researched and went to a big city center for excellence as well.

During 6 week post op was told the femural component was a half size debate in the surgery room. I was told he’d go down a size for my second one. He didn’t like my extension at the time.
Almost 9 weeks out and I can get good ROM #s if 2 PT s crank me. Is this normal? 123*, 0*. But I revert when I go home or on Mondays ( going 3x a week, daily multiple exercises, bike at home).

Main problem is walking. Pain sets in middle front of knee about a half block in. I just can’t walk far at all. Used to 10,000 steps plus a day. I feel like my life is over. So frustrating.

Is this too early in the game? Never thought I’d still be taking ibuprofen and Tylenol just to get through my day at this point. So stiff. Knee is so tight. So hard to bend. Doesn’t feel like enough skin elasticity around it. Is there tissue expanders that work for this area? Something hits in the middle of my knee when I flex.
Not much research to find on oversized issues, or Drs owning this. I do see that MUA does not work for larger components.

Any ideas? Too early for 2nd opinion?

I got second opinion I think it was 5-6 months out …. My original dr was giving up just saying wait a year go in and clean up scar tissue …. For me that did not sound right . I explained to him felt like there was to much in there that is why could not bend he would not listen ….. I found my own water therapy had his office write script for I tried everything myofascial release …during water therapy pt suggested second opinion. Best thing did for myself … my first appointment with original after surgery x-ray one look he knew was to big was not going to get any more flexion …. Set up revision date for one year because you have to wait one year …. Like I said still stiff and sore but flexion so much better… recovery this time was so much easier because my body was not fighting against it … I know exactly how you feel so frustrating some dr don’t listen … but some do so don’t give up it does get better ….good luck
