same here. food prices are still way up.

I think the news reported that groceries are up by something like 40% and only a small percentage is because of inflation. The rest by price gouging that started in the pandemic.

Really disgusting that these companies would take advantage of people when they are most vulnerable.

AARP, I have found, has a lot of great info. But, you know, they also seem to have their own political bias and agenda. They seem to be pro-business and not critical of it.

Doesn't matter to me, they still have good info in the mix of their pro-business spin, or whatever they are doing...

Food prices haven't come down where I live either. (Edmonds, Washington). However, there are ways to economize when it comes to food. My mom grew up in the depression and learned a lot of ways to prepare good nutritional dinners for very little money. Every time we had a beef roast, she saved the "drippings" that the meat was cooked in. They made wonderful gravy and beef stew! Whenever we had a turkey at Thanksgiving, she made soup from the leftover bones. Mom also cooked a lot of beans adding brown sugar, onion and mustard for flavor. Dry white beans are very cheap compared to meat. Split peas are also cheaper and make good soup. You don't have to add ham to it if you can't afford it. They are also a good source of potassium. These suggestions might help your food budget a little. It did mine!

I agree. There are definitely ways to save a lot of money, if you put some research and time into it all.

One thing you can do is buy bulk. You can buy bulk beans and rice. In 50 lb or even 100 lb sacks. And if you can store them well, you can have food for months that costs next to nothing.

And sure, grow some of your own vegetables, even fruit trees, etc. etc. etc.
