Welcome @ccountie, I'm just a patient like yourself with no medical background but I think severe arthritis in the neck can possibly increase your blood pressure but it is always best to discuss this type of question with your doctor or a specialist. Here's some information that may help answer your question.

"Cervical spondylosis may be one of the causes of secondary hypertension. Early treatment for resolution of symptoms of cervical spondylosis may have a beneficial impact on cardiovascular disease risk in patients with cervical spondylosis."

Have you talked with your doctor about a connection between your neck arthritis and high blood pressure?

I have degenerative disc disease and my 5th & 6 disc’s are pushed in a little also bone spurs. I always thought it was the pain that caused my higher blood pressure. I take blood pressure medication and it keeps it down. I realize that many people believe that those meds cause different issues but I think those issues are less severe than the alternative. Just my thoughts as I am not an expert.

@ccountie I am a retired nurse and back patient. The pain associated with your severe arthritis could certainly raise your BP and usually the upper number but not both. As John recommended if your concerned see your doctor.

Good info, Is there any new ideas, on this subject. I also notice that if I am active/using my arms/upper body for more often it reflects on increased blood pressure readings. ( I have neck degenerative issues) I would like to know if others also have same issues and what they take for it--I really don't like taking anything but may have to give in?
Thanks

@jer22 to assess whether or not you have a hypertension issue related to your neck arthritis, your doctor may ask you to obtain serial BP readings over a period of time. A one time elevation of BP is meaningless unless drastically elevated, in which case you’d repeat your reading again. If you haven’t shared your concerns with your PCP and your BP is elevated you should share your concerns.
