Okay, I looked it up. Knee replacement surgery. Are you able to tolerate localized pain relief, like Voltaren? It’s a cream or gel that’s applied to the area. Another option would be to see if your doctor will prescribe you some pain patches where meds are absorbed through the skin.
Applications of heat or ice may help too.

If the doctors are recommending TKR, I’d work towards making it possible. Is there any other option? My mom has bone on bone in her hip and surgery is recommended, but she doesn’t want to have it. She’s 83. She got a cortisone shot, but their benefits are limited. Have you tried that?

Can you seek talk therapy to address your fears and ways to self soothe?

Can you talk to your doctors about what meds you can use for pain instead of pain pills? Many use things like ibuprofen. There are also anti nausea meds that could help with that. They come in suppository form, in case you vomit.

Would you qualify for a stay in short term rehab after surgery? Or, in home care?

I know some pet rescue groups help with temporary foster care for pets while the owner recuperates. That might be something to explore.

You may need to apply it multiple times to achieve the best benefit. Be sure to read the instructions. If you need it delivered, some places are offering door dash.
