Good evening, @semurrey. Nice to meet you! Let me see if I understand your question. I don't know why I was given Boniva. I knew nothing about Osteoporosis and had never heard anything about it from my Mother or my Aunts. I had just moved to Minnesota and found a primary care physician that I liked. She told me it was time to begin to protect my bones.
Unfortunately, my body reacted negatively, so she referred me to an endocrinologist who was the one who recommended Tymlos. I have not had any problems with Tymlos or Alendronate (Fosamax?).
You mentioned that you are experiencing side effects with Fosamax. Have you asked for some help from your medical professional?
May you be safe and protected from harm.
Chris
Good morning @semurrey. Thanks for your response. Let me see what I can do to help you,
First- ------As I recall, I started with Boniva, which is a biphosphate. My life partner and I were spending a month at Hope Lodge for his prostate cancer treatment. I let my PCP know that things were not even or helpful. She sent me to an endocrinologist Fosamax without any side effects.
