Evenity timing between appointments

Posted by spiderplant @spiderplant, Jul 25 5:10pm

Can't find anything on the subject of spacing between Evenity appointments other than it must be once every calendar month. Was used to four weeks with the exception of one time they could only fit me in at 6 weeks. Now I have a 3 weeks 3 days gap scheduled. I feel edgy having the stuff in my system as it is but wondering if it's silly to worry about a few days. Any thoughts? PS - As many ask about others' experiences: I just had #7 with no (known) side effects / no discomfort at the location (belly or arms) aside of when they administer it.

@spiderplant, I was able to schedule my appointments at four weeks (28 days). I seem to remember my doc mentioning a timeframe of “between 28 and 35 days”. Early in my treatment, I think there may have been a dose that was about 30 days. As a result of sticking to the four week schedule, I was able to complete my all twelve of my appointments in about 10-1/2 months.

You might want to check with your insurance provider and a health care professional about having another dose prior to 28 days.

I hope you continue to do well with Evenity! Cheers!

If Medicare is paying it has to be one month and a day between injections according to my doc's billing.

I'm on Medicare and scheduled all 12 of my Evenity injections every 4 weeks on Tuesdays. Medicare paid for all and they were exactly 28 days apart.

Thanks for the feedback! 28 to 35 days sounds good to me.... will speak up about being told they can only fit me in with fewer or far more days than that in one particular month ... after hopefully being able to confirm.

Am guessing none of vrgarden's appointments were on the first few days of the month as from what they told me, Medicare won't let you have, for example, one on the 2nd and another on the 30th of the same month as that won't be one per calendar month. Beanieone am guessing had different insurance! I'm somewhat dreading the "what after" decision so not sure I mind having it stretch to 12 months vs 10.5!

@spiderplant I have stretched out a few appointments to 35 days but nothing less than 28-30 days. I had this very discussion with the nurses at the infusion center where I get my injections because of how my schedule had changed.

Ultimately this is medical question to ask your doctor who prescribed Evenity. I'm going to say that "fitting you in" to the injection site's schedule to accommodate their workload could be a problem for you, the patient. Again, I would get clarification from my doctor.

Medicare Part B (I have Traditional Medicare) has paid for all of my injections. I think this could also be an insurance issue but since I didn't have injections at less than 28 days from the prior one I can't answer that questions.

I still had hefty co-pays even on Medicare with an Advantage Plan. I did have two injections in one calendar month, the 2nd and the 30th of May.

I understand you wanting to avoid the “after/what’s next” when finished with Evenity, @spiderplant. I started my research early because of my past Reclast infusion history and wanting to be able to do a maintenance med after Evenity within a relatively short period of time.

Have a great weekend, all. Cheers!

Hi @zebes92,

My Evenity treatment went smoothly with minimal reactions, and those only lasted for a few days: A bit of swelling, slight pain at the injection sight - about like getting a flu shot. I had all shots in the backs of my upper arms (some of our friends here report getting them in the stomach). The nurses were kind enough to take the Evenity out of the fridge ahead of my appointment which makes the injections sting less.

My T-scores improved dramatically in my spine - from -2.9 to -1.0 (28%) and my dual femur score from -2.5 to -2.1 (8%). Not surprising as Evenity is noted to improve spine t-scores more than hip/femur. Needless to say, I am thrilled with the improvement! I should note also, that I had 8-1/2 months of Tymlos injections just prior to Evenity, so I can’t be sure which drug actually helped more (I had bad reactions to Tymlos while others have not).

Sounds like you’re considering Evenity - best wishes to you as you sift through the rubble and find what will work best for you. There are many members here who are happy to relate their stories. Cheers!
