I've had type 2 for 26 years. Controlled with diet and exercise the first 11, then added oral meds the second 11, and insulin only for the last couple of years. I did quite a bit of research before starting insulin, and it appeared to me that Mounjaro would be my second choice after insulin, because it (from what I read) helped control both blood sugar and weight, whereas Ozempic only helped control weight. I chose insulin for two reasons: At 81, I'm sort of a "traditionalist", having seen various new meds come and go, and also I didn't like seeing the shortages occurring with Mounjaro.
I'm glad to hear you're not having side effects from the Ozempic. Have your blood sugar levels improved on it? Why did you switch from insulin, and what diabetes meds are you taking along with it?

I was removed from insulin while recovering from reoccurring pneumonia episodes. Started to have seizures but OK after everything settled down. Was switched to pills, Jardiance, Metphorman and Sitagliptin Malat. After last 5 yrs no MD, past 6 months now have a local Family MD and diabetic nurse. Sugars average 10mmol/L and have peaked to 22. Now take Methorphan 1000mg daily, started Ozemic 3 weeks ago, 0.25 mg and after 4th week go to .5mg. Too early for blood work but sugars seam the same so far but not peaking too high above 10mmol/L. Feeling OK
Take care, and thank you kindly.

About 15 yrs ago, sugars began to be more balanced. Was taken off Insulin & put on pills. My sugars are now still about the same, 10.0 mmol/L (180.18 mg/dL) blood work done 5 Aug. Just recently started the 0.5 mg Ozempic (standard here for diabetics) . I am not trying to loose weight. Dr said it takes a few months to see changes, Only one new experience, missing breakfast caused me low blood sugars, 90/50. I take meds for high blood pressure. Dr cut my dosage in 1/2 . Blood pressure better and do not skip breakfast. If you start Ozempic drink extra water. Was on Jardiance but stopped when Ozempic started, still take Metformin. Feeling great now, Best of luck.
