Positive Evenity results
I had my DEXA scan a week ago after finishing Evenity just over a month ago. With my luck I was expecting little results. Luckily it was good! Lumbar spine went from -4.6 to -3.0 Right femoral neck from -2.9 to -2.2. All the ridiculous copays were worth it to have my spine improve that much. My new PCP (I moved 3 months ago) hadn’t gotten the report as of today, so I downloaded it from my patient portal and emailed it to her. I still have a crappy spine, but not nearly as crappy as it was. Just a tip, be persistent when you need something medical. The place I was originally referred to for the DEXA said they couldn’t get me in until mid August. Multiple calls later, I got an appointment elsewhere within a few days. When I hadn’t heard from my PCP a week after the scan I called them. I don’t know what’s next yet, rheumatologist was pushing Prolia partly because it’s once every 6 months instead of a daily pill, but I had no unmanageable side effects with alendronate and Prolia is an unknown. That’s fantastic. I am supposed to go on Evenity after my baseline Dexa and bloodwork. Did you have any side effects while on Evenity or any advice? Thank you!

My only side effect was that my arms would get sore several hours after the shots(they did one in each arm) and it would last until the next day. That got less severe as time went on, until it was just an inconvenience. After the first shots I had insomnia for a night, but not with any of the other shots.

1 ReactionMy diet is admittedly not great, as I live alone, am poor, and loathe cooking. I take a multivitamin, and a bone supplement with calcium, Vitamin K2, magnesium, and a few other things. Normally I walk or do low impact aerobics at least once a day, I recently injured my back (muscle, not spine) so had to take a break from that but am getting back to it now.

1 ReactionJust had my DeXA after a year on Evenity and my T score in my spine went from a -4.6 to -3.3 that’s a 19.3% increase . My femur went from -2.1 to -1.3 with a 14.0 % increase in BMD . I’m so happy .

1 ReactionWhat are your plans after great results? Reclast, HRT? Were you on HRT during Evenity year? If so, what was HRT dosage. I’m asking because I hesitate to do reclast after Evenity. I’m hoping HRT might be a better option!
What is DEXA scan? Bone scan??
And I haven't heard of Evenity, is it similar to prolea? I am on Prolea, due for a bone scan and if my osteopenia is worse due to my cancer meds I would like an alternative. TIA
