How do I begin tapering off 100mg pristiq?

I have been on pristiq for at least 3 years, and it has worked really well for me. I am now in a place where I want to try and taper off it. Please don't tell me to work with my doctor as he is totally hopeless and knows nothing. He will however provide it at a lower dose if I ask him. What is the best lower dose to begin with?

I would highly recommend finding a doctor who will work with you. Pristiq is hard to taper off because of the slow release action of the drug and lack of low dosages. My psychiatrist helped me taper off by using Prozac. As I decreased the Pristiq, I added a little prozac until I was only taking it. Tapering off Prozac was easy in comparison. I don't have details because this was in 2014. It would be unwise to do this just by suggestions on the forum. I hope you find a good compassionate doctor - probably a psychiatrist - to work through this with you. I've not taken any antidepressants since then. It can be done.
