What are your experiences with tramadol ?
I have been taking tramadol for over 20 years. It was first prescribed for knee pain. This was the era when they did meniscus surgery. I'm sure the medication is not effective for me now, but it continues to be prescribed. Any other thoughts or experiences?

What you say is very interesting. My pain management doctor told me that it is one of the least addictive drugs. I have been n it for the past three years and I take it as needed. The times that I need it, I may take one tablet. And then there are times that I may need to take two. But I am always in control of the situation. God bless you. brotherchuckles80
Hi! brotherchuckles80. I probably should have mentioned that I was a nurse for 48 yrs. The last 25 taking care of medical/ surgical older adults#- 65 & up.At the time Tramadol was a script med. but not a narcotic. Many were from nursing homes and on scheduled Tramadol and as needed. The doses were all high and when I spoke to a physician he stated that they had been taking for a long time and they became “ used to” it or addicted but at their advanced age they should be allowed to be comfortable. I think that I was allergic to it.I have very bad osteoporosis and in pain most of the time. I wanted no narcotic pain med so my rheumatologist tried me on Tramadol. After only a few doses I had Stephen Johnson Syndrome. ( you can google it )
Thanks for your response. God Bless
Oh my goodness. To have that syndrome after only a few doses. Take care
Its good that tylenol works for you. Take care
Good advice. We often tke a mediction and forget the glass of water that should come with it. Often I have heaartburn after taking a medication and that reminds me quickly.
There has been an over reaction - people who need a stronger pain remover can't get a prescription. Many doctors shudder at even a mention of a narcotic pain remover. I think they believe they will be censored by their supervisors and so that comes first to their thinking, not the pain of their patient.
Tramadol gave me blisters on my arms and legs, than leaving me with brown spots. Terribly allergic!
Wow - definiely not a medication for you to use! I could understand blisters, but brown spots? Hope they went away.
Ah Ha -lucky for your pooch!
My experience with tramadol was brief and abysmal. It was prescribed by my pain management doctor when they couldn’t seem to help me any other way -steroids, facet injections, and a laundry list of medications. I took one dose of tramadol and was nauseous and sitting in a spaced out coma on my sofa for t Eve he better part of two days. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it’s absolutely true. I don’t have great reactions to oxycodone or hydrocodone, but this one was on a whole different level. It went in the trash right away. The only thing that helps my pain without making me a nauseous zombie is meperidine. I’m still not in a position to leave the house and drive when I take it, but if I have chores I need to get done, this is my drug of choice
