The purpose of the 3 month period is to reassess how your body and the disease have reacted to the medication. If results are positive the drugs are usually continued and if not discontinued or changed. You’re reading too much into the 3 month time line, it’s only a place make so to speak.

The doctors up I saw were adamant about the three months. I started the meds the day after my TIA but I had to stop the Brilinta and Aspirin because I had to have surgery about 1.5 months later. After the surgery I had to wait a couple of weeks to restart because of the bleeding risk. But now the neurologist was insistent on starting a whole new three months of the meds! This is the issue that prompted the question.
I was also told I could stop the anti platelet after that with no followup needed unless I had an issue. So what is the “magical three months” all about?
