I get it Scott! Technology is great - until it's not. Those niggling problems can take so long to solve, and the more complex everything gets, the harder some issues are to solve.
I have a mangled laptop sitting in my husband's workroom, waiting until one of us has the time to remove the hard drive and hook it to another device so I can make sure I retrieved everything I need from my backups before we reformat it.
Then he can work his magic and pull all the recyclable parts out before the case goes in the trash.
I have trouble keeping track of all those tiny SIM cards and what they belong to - and even more, getting them into or out of slots or devices with my tremor.

Glad you found your solution. Did you get rid of the bad SIM cards so you never have to repeat this exercise?

@sueinmn, the bad cards will be boiled in salt water, melted, and buried. I'm not going through all this twice.

And I've ordered new SD/micro SD card readers as well. Fool me once...

For me, part of the problem is my pride. I used to make my living programming on PCs, back in the early 80s. I could do a lot of complex stuff, like hand-coding software interrupts to control external devices. (See Chapter Six of "Intelligent Instruction by Computer" for one example.) To be stymied by a simple operation was maddening.

Nowadays, I can barely manipulate a Micro SD card. Sic transit gloria mundi.
