Torn Miniscus in knee
Surgeon said my knee pain was due to a torn miniscus and he wants to do surgery. Not sure if he wants to replace or just cut something. Anyone had a torn miniscus, please reply here as to what it is and what is done. Thanks

Something else to consider is the inflammation that comes with some of the conditions we experience through injury. It might be useful to have a conversation with your doctor about eating an anti-inflammatory diet. It could be beneficial to musculoskeletal as well as other health considerations.
Best of wishes to you and your brother.
Thank you! Yes, I’m very focused on diet and lifestyle. I’ve been dealing with issues worse than my knee. Hopefully, things will come together for overall health as well.
How did things go? I’m searching info for my brother, who had repair a few weeks ago and is having significant pain, even at night with non use. I’m worried.
My surgery isn’t until 10/2. Best wishes to your brother! Hoping that the pain subsides quickly.
I assume you are talking about arthroscopic surgery to repair the meniscus. You can live with a torn meniscus as long as you can live with the pain and it doesn't cause problems such as locking up. I have had arthroscopic surgery to repair meniscus three times, two times on one knee and once on the other. I have had successful outcomes. There's a little pain for two or three days afterwards and you will need to take it easy. I was out walking between the 4th and 5th week and got along well. If it is bothering you that much I suggest that you go forward with the surgery as long as you trust the surgeon, probably orthopedist,
Thank you for your encouraging reply! I do trust my surgeon and am looking forward to getting this done and behind me.
I am recovering from arthroscopic meniscus surgery and Baker cyst removal. I am pleased with the outcome and found the pain to be minimum. The pain won't go away by itself so it is worthwhile.
Thank you so much! Yes, I was told that my tear is “significant “ by two md’s and it won’t heal. You have really encouraged me. Happy healing to you!!!!
