Does anyone have chronic constipation?

I don't know what's going on with my digestion ,I have been chronically constipated since December so it's been 4 months. I am always gassy and the smell has been very foul so I've been scared and embarrassed to be around people lately because of how bad it smells, when I've tried to poop only gas comes out most of the time, sometimes my stomach feels stiff and I start to feel lethargic. And I've tried almost everything digestive drinks like meta Mucil, eating more fiber i live an active lifestyle and I drink plenty of fluids and water. I recently had an appointment with my pediatrician about this she made me do colon cleansing for a day . And take Miralax for a minimum of 3 weeks. My stools were watery during the cleansing but after a couple days it feels like my stool is going back to being hard and stubborn. I still don't poop completely sometimes and I'm still gassy but it's not smelly like it was before. She said I can stop taking Miralax when i feel like my stools are going back to normal after a few days or weeks and it's been a week or two and a few days. I know I still need to wait one more week but my follow-up appointment is next Wednesday. The Miralax seems like a temporary fix, I feel like it'' never go away the worst part is I cant figure out what the cause is. I don't think it's IBS because I heard IBS involves bloody stools and stomach cramps I don't have bloody stools and I don't think I get stomach cramps . It just feels like have some other serious digestive problem or something I don't really know. I don't want to be constipated for the rest of my life I feel miserable, my pediatrician said if the Miralax doesn't work as intended I may have to see a gastroenterologists.

Has anyone or is anyone dealing with chronic constipation ?,does it or did it ever go away ? and has anyone been experiencing the same symptoms as me ?.Do you have any recommendations on how they treat their constipation ?

Hi Shelley best of luck. What we liked about it was listening to some of the chatter we tell ourselves doesn't always help and we can use affirmations to pull ourselves onto a better course. Like I said I have malformed legs from an auto accident (oops left that part out) so have some chronic pain. You might look up Substance P too. Our brains make that chemical which tells our brain we have pain and then our brain gets confused always on guard. Anyway bringing in a counter affirmation or even counter substance like hot pepper or biofreeze for me on my legs has helped me lessen the discomfort. Our bodies are complex but why not take on the challenge vs giving up, right? lol

Farmersmith,
I am going to get the book. It sounds like it is using the same ideas that are used in chronic pain management. Your leg pain sounds awful. Unfortunately, the phrase "accidents happen " when it is our body it is "shit happens ". I had 2 recreational accidents in 2005, rogue wave threw me onto a lava rock and then a second wave hit me and I summersaulted; then in the snow, hit a divet, whiplashed my head twice, I truly thought it would fall off my body. These two events permanently damaged my body and destroyed the life I was having. Hey, I have a redundant splenic flexure, which side is yours on? I've learned that 99% of redundant flexures are congenital , yet after all the testing and imaging no dr. ever told me, I found out by discovering it on the radiological report of a CT scan just last year. How did you find out about yours? What part does it play in your medical issues? I'm so glad I found it, my daughter was getting a colonoscopy soon, so she was able to tell the doctor to find out, she did have it, too. All I could do was say I was sorry she inherited my good and my bad genes. You have a much better outlook than I do. I am so 👿💩👿 worn down by some real biggie stuff, medically, that I'm not even really living, I just exist. Shelley

Hello.
I have had constipation issues for years. Had a rectocele and cystocele in 2017. Developed an issue with the rectocele - the dr. called it a pocket. Had to push hard to have BM. Was taking 2 MAGO7 colo cleanse for probably 5 or 6 yrs. It always worked.
In April 2024 I had a colonoscopy which showed that I have a redundant colon. Since the colonoscopy things seem to have gotten worse. Eurogyn gave pessary to keep the colon bulge from pushing on vagina. Stopped Mag O 7 Colon cleanse- it harsh. Started Mira Lax. Was working but going too many times. Took less, became totally constipated for days. Used citrate.
Started Miralax again. had 4 days of malaise, foggy brain, sweating, confusion. Saw this. could be side affects of Miralax. (was drinking water ). Could I have dehydration even though I drank water? maybe not enough? Is there some laxative better for redundant colon?

I have what I was told atonic bowel which could be the same as you. I have been taking OTC laxatives since I was about 10 yrs.old. My colonoscopies never showed much.My G.I.doc. Tried me on all sorts of laxatives by script. Either they didn’t work or I had bad reactions. Finally in 2014 I was diagnosed with gastroparesis after being in & out of the hospital so,so many times. I needed TPN and was in a nursing home for one month on TPN because I had lost so much weight. I have been taking Miralax twice daily since 2017 & depending on your diet depends on how it works. I have very .very bowel movements, no cramping. You need to find the right dosage for you but it’s been the best for me. I’m 78. What about you?

Try the Goddess collection teas. They work for Chronic constipation. DIGESTIVE RELIEF or PARASITE PUNISHER are good ones.
