What are your experiences with tramadol ?

Posted by Always Hopeful @AlwaysHopeful, Jun 16 7:42am

I have been taking tramadol for over 20 years. It was first prescribed for knee pain. This was the era when they did meniscus surgery. I'm sure the medication is not effective for me now, but it continues to be prescribed. Any other thoughts or experiences?

Thank you for that information. It was extremely helpful.

So glad it was helpful. I feel like everyone should have the testing done. So many meds are contraindicated for me and I would have had no idea of what medicines to avoid and what medicines to consider without the testing. Best to you

Ask for something different. All meds can become ineffective if you’ve taken them a long time. Also, your body Changes Cycles and you can become allergic or immune to something that Used to work or be ok. It’s normal. You might try Naproxen. It is a NSAIDs and it’s OTC at store.
Might consider Red Light/Infrared Therapy and or TENS.
And Magnesium Spray.

Naproxen is very very hard on your stomach! If you take it you must have a substantial amount of food on your stomach before you take it. Maybe take it after a meal. Good luck.

You are fortunate to have received that drug at that time. It wouldn't be prescribed today. Doctors are too afraid of losing their license.

it's crazy because they used to prescribe it for everything like candy. Now when a person really needs it, they can't prescribe it but making hard drugs legal is okay?

Horrible drug for FM, almost lost my vision and other side effects.

Those sound like nasty side effects. Hope your vision came back. Take care.

Tramadol is a synthetic narcotic...a barely effective analgesic which rates at the bottom of the Morphine Equivalency scale. You easily become tolerant of its effects and need more. Better off taking Tylenol. I've taken it for over 30 years. Useless medication at this point.

I take Tramadol and it is the only thing that is effective for my severe arthritis pain. I suffer no side effects. Without this drug I would not be able to live a normal life. I am 75. I have tried every kind of treatment and this one is the only thing that works for me. Best of luck finding a solution that works for you.
