it's crazy because they used to prescribe it for everything like candy. Now when a person really needs it, they can't prescribe it but making hard drugs legal is okay?

There has been an over reaction - people who need a stronger pain remover can't get a prescription. Many doctors shudder at even a mention of a narcotic pain remover. I think they believe they will be censored by their supervisors and so that comes first to their thinking, not the pain of their patient.
