When do you start getting energy after radiation?

My husband just started swallowing therapy again after finishing radiation. He can't swallow at all. And yes, opening his mouth wide enough to even brush his teeth is almost impossible. He uses a waterpik for oral hygiene and either the salt water or 1.5% peroxide. I've never heard of the devices you mentioned but will definitely ask his therapist.

After I finished my 30 rounds of radiation I hit my rock bottom about 2-3 weeks AFTER my last session. My energy started to return slowly at about 2-4 weeks . It took about 9 months to get back to eating about anything I want. I say this to give him a reason to not give up. My first couple of months after radiation I have a very soft diet and boost milkshakes. Then pasta , soup, eggs, cottage cheese. The 3rd month Pizza! Steak and potatoes about 6th month. My taste gradually came back through the process as well. My energy has returned to about 90% at the one year mark. However I still have good days and not so good days. Hang in there, Get moving, and Eat what you can to get stronger( KEY POINT). Have Faith for there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck !

I just looked and the device that expand your mouth is called a TheraBite. (There is another device that is called OraStretch.

I am a year out of very similar treatments. I concur the hardest part of radiation is the 3-6 weeks post treatment. It used to take me about 30 minutes to get one Boost down. You just keep moving, fighting, and believing "this too will pass." It does. Your husband will heal.
For me i think it was 9 month before I was at 90%. This healing process for me has been a time to get on a much better eating plan. Loads of fresh veggies and fruits, not much starch or sugar, and small amounts of meat protein. I am 43 lbs lighter and no longer require blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, or a sleep apnea machine. I am 68
