Karen. Sending an update. Today I got a message from my NTM doctor. He has asked me to stop the Rifampin and to get 2 blood tests a Complete Blood Count with Differentials and a Complete Metabolic Panel. I guess once he sees the results he will decide if I can continue to take the Rifampin or if it will need replaced. Will keep you posted. Good luck with your journey.

To all suffering from itching--ME TOO! And I was told to stop the Rifampin as well. I am currently only on 2 meds and that unsightly raised rash has gone BUT I have small red rashes on my stomach and back now and this rash really itches. I went to see the dermatologist for the first outbreak and she took a biopsy which revealed it was a reaction from medication and since my ID doctor felt that rifampin was the lesser of the three we cut that one out. Frankly I think all antibiotics taken long term [as we do] causes all sorts of other problems for our bodies...I wish I had a solution to offer those of us itching but alas....nothing to suggest.
