I only say this because these Drs specialize in physical medicine, kinesiology. I might be wrong and they are MDs after all. I'm sure they could make a referral to a psychiatrist or psychotherapist if that was something they thought could help.
You are right. Drs. can refer you to a psychiatrist or psychotherapist but from my experience, my previous PCP just offered me all kind of medications. But due to my constant malaise while I was being treated for IBS, my GI referred me to a psychiatrist that was supposed to call me but she never did. I also called her office several times, left messages, but nothing happened. So, I went online to look for psychiatrists in my area, I had 2 Telehealth appointments, then I was referred to a psychotherapist. I received a list of them to choose. I researched online one by one, and theirs corresponding reviews. I made an appointment with an office with several psychotherapists. My therapist makes me do all kind of exercises and lists, then we prioritize issues, and works with me one by one. It is amazing. During my sessions and at home I realized how my dreams were trying to tell me something, but I was not able to decipher them. I now realize it is not only trauma the problem, it is when you are overwhelmed. All the things that our body accumulates and that we don't even remember affects us. The weakest area in our body reacts and there is no medicine in the world that cures you completely. I recommend to read "The body keeps the score." Right on the money.
We need to be our own advocate.
@jimb8 I was doing great with two tablespoonsful of generic Metamucil - was regular as clockwork till I had a colonoscopy in April this year, and now I am constipated even though I haven’t changed my dosage. 🤷🏼♀️ I am hesitant to take any laxatives because they are habit forming for the bowel.

Hi there! I do think that even though colonoscopies are needed and beneficial, they can mess up our gut microbiome some. I would recommend taking magnesium citrate (powder) or magnesium glycinate in the evening to help with constipation. In addition I would increase your fiber intake slowly: I find that all of the Ezekiel breads are excellent and high fiber, eat lots of fruit and fresh veggies/salads…drink lots of water and also, add some electrolytes to your water and make sure you’re getting enough iodine to help support your thyroid and keep your metabolism going. Exercise is key too…walk 10 minutes after a large meal and try and walk at least 30 minutes a day and build your muscle mass as well. Eat foods to help increase your gut microbiome diversity like cabbage, broccoli, lots of veggies, low sugar fruits: berries are the best! If you can eat oatmeal, great! Choose organic, gluten free steel cut…and make sure to make it the day before and then put it in frig overnight…that will help create more resistant starch in the oats or beans too and it won’t spike your blood glucose as much. Also, cut out processed foods, but if needed Siete chips are grain free, high in fiber…choose lower glycemic foods and fruits…berries are the best! Eat a little dark chocolate each day (with some almonds and or walnuts)…exercise, meditate, lower stress and my last tips are to do gentle massage on your belly and lower stomach…this helps greatly with digestion speed, also walk after every meal. Hope this helps!!! Blessings to you!!
Ps: Start a gratitude journal as well and do gentle massage to all lymph nodes when you first wake up, this helps to activate your metabolism, also long stretches and dry brush massaging helps keep the body going!!! But lowering stress is key!!!
Well, I have been researching anything that can return my regular BM since my intestinal prolapse surgery in October and now I am becoming more than a little concerned. I also read Dr Gundry's excerpts from his book and I think he sounds like he just wants money from people. Not an expert as he calls himself. I don't know what to use anymore because nothing is really working.. Doctors have prescribe the Miralax, Lactulose, Bisacodyl, Phillips Milk of Magnesia (yuk) and other over the counter things- such a waste of money .... the list goes on... I was so desperate last week I bought one of those liquid enema apparatus kits.. but I felt it was too dangerous and that I may harm myself even further... my PCP suggested eating 2 Kiwi's Fruits and at least 64 ounces of warm lemon water per day.. Apparently Kiwi's are the new "Prunes" Yoga and different types of twisting exercises sometimes gets things moving a bit, but none of this gives me the relief that is needed to be normal. I am literally full of ___ !! Today I decided I am no longer eating because it is not being eliminated properly. I can't go on this way any longer.. Each doctor seems to be of no help. This is such a condition that is difficult and embarrassing to talk about, even to a gastrologist .. I don't know... I feel something is terrible wrong.. Please, does anyone have any have any other suggestions about what I can do this weekend? Thank you so much for any response 🙁
Have you guys tried to boil the mixed vegetables 30 mins , blend them, then eat one cup in the morning and one cup in the evening? It helps constipation a lot. My husband used to have constipation but now he refused to eat the vegetables juice because that caused bowl movement.

Sending you love and prayers🙏🏻😇. My heart goes out to you, I know this message won’t cure your “issues” but I want to just let you know, you’re not alone🤗🫶🏻🩷🩷.

Gundry’s protocol and teachings are based on His experience, research and body. Most of his research is cross referenced and founded to be true.
REMEMBER: Practitioners are “practicing medicine”. They can use their personal experiences to enhance their work, HOWEVER, every human, although Human and similar, has a different chemistry and reaction to Everything. What works for One, may have a very negative response to another. Lectin is a real thing, nature has a way of disposing of toxic things. Humans tend to trust Medicine too much and don’t listen to their bodies.
Humans are still learning and discovering how the human body works.
We are unique works of art!
Unfortunately, we can uniquely suffer.
As with All things in life, Moderation, Patience and Grace (including for yourself) are keys to healthier living.
One thing I’ve found to be very helpful is an Allergy and Intolerance Test. Can usually find on “Groupon or Living Social app” as well as “Amazon” for discounted prices. Getting an Advanced Sensitivity test, based on hair dna can provide a great guide and place to start. Then look at programs like Gundry, KETO….to adapt them to your specific needs.
“Advanced Food Intolerance Labs” has an Amazing product. There are other companies that also offer great detailed reports. The more tested, the more of a guide you’ll have to understanding your own chemistry.

“Lectin is a real thing” true enough, but isn't it strange Gundry, the Guru Of Greed who doesn't explain that the mainstay diet of the healthiest, longest-living people on the planet eat many foods rich in lectins, yet he suggests not eating these and other highly nutritious foods but instead substituting one of his many supplements that supposedly contain the nutrients like those found in whole grains and legumes.
Soaking beans is going to get rid of most of them anyway. Cooking should take care of the rest. I guess mentioning that slipped his mind. Or maybe not, as it would likely cut into his bottom line from decreased sales of his dozen or so supplements specifically for this, so-called problem.

Take care,

Here is what healed me of all lower GI problems: Get pre-cut butternut squash and place in a skillet with a tight lid or a Dutch oven plus two tablespoons of water. Secure lid and heat on low until you can smell the squash; do not lift lid until you can smell it. It should be completely soft and thus done at this time. Eat with a little butter or vegan substitute with salt and pepper to taste. This is guaranteed to clean you out 🧹. Other options are any of the cruciferous vegetables (cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, red or green cabbage, etc.), asparagus, and green or French beans. With the cabbage, substitute apple juice or apple cider vinegar for the water. No sugar! Once you start eating fresh vegetables daily prepared in this way (always on stovetop with a lid and unopened until the food’s fragrance is emanating), your gut will heal. This type of cooking is one of the staples of macrobiotics, by the way. Best wishes for good health. 🙏🏻

Maybe Metamucil might help. A nurse once told me "All of stomach Dr patients that take Metamucil never have issues"

I'm just curious why this type of cooking is better or more effective. what's the science behind it?
Thank you,
Jake.
