Breast cancer spread to left side of pelvis.
My mother lives in Amman , Jordan. She started having pain in her inner uper left thigh. After going to seven different doctors, one doctor requested CT Scan.. The tumor was found left breast behind the nipple area and has spread to the bone. There is a break in the left side of pelvis bone..She is 72. A doctor suggested hormone therapy, and radiation if needed. A biopsy is schrduled.. I consulted with two bone doctors, one said there is nothing to be done to her break, another doctor suggested an artificial joint to stabalize the area, so she could start walking again. I appreciate any constructive advice in this matter. It really hurts seeing her not able to walk, and in so much pain.

Hi @faust, and welcome to Connect. I'm sorry to hear about your mom's condition as I can only imagine how difficult it must be to not have a clear treatment plan. I'm tagging @salena54, @gulzar and @ronoir as I feel they will be able to provide solid advice for your situation.
Please keep us posted on the results from the biopsy. Hopefully it leads doctors to confirm a treatment plan for your mom.
Thank you so much.. biopsy results should be out on Thursday.
Hi @faust. Would you like me to move your messages to the Breast Cancer group? https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/breast-cancer/
That will be great. The tumor has spread to the bone. Its concentrated at lef pelvis upper left leg area. Mom did have a bone surgery to stabalize that area. She is scheduled to undergo radaition therapy in that area. Will radaition thrapy spread the cancer? Through my research I didnot read anything to confirm it. Biopsy results should be out this coming Thursday.. thank you.
@faust, I have moved your discussion to the Breast Cancer group and would like to introduce you to a few members of the group. Please meet @grandma41 @cautiousoptimism @susanao1 @kathleensunshineobrien @sue_in_delaware @floramart and @fundytide.
Here is some information on how radiation therapy works. (Be sure to see the list of sections about radiation listed along the left side of the webpage.) http://www.breastcancer.org/treatment/radiation/how_works Radiation does not increase the risk of the cancer spreading.
Faust, what type of breast cancer does your mom have?
Hi colleen. She has cancer in both breastes. One is larger than the other.. I am not sure I understand what you mean by kind. Is that something the biopsy will determine? Thank you.
Yes, there are many different types of breast cancer. Here is a list of them http://bit.ly/2b2gx0H The biopsy along with other test results will help determine the type and stage of breast cancer. Knowing the type and stage, as well as considering things like age and overall health, determines which treatments will work best for your mom.
Did you get the biopsy results? Have you talked with the doctor about the type of cancer and treatment options?
@faust you may find this guide useful Getting Your Pathology Report http://www.breastcancer.org/symptoms/diagnosis/getting_path_report
Hi Colleen, I have gotten the results o biopsy. It reads as follow:
Poorly differentiated ducal adenocarcinoma with high grade carcinoma in
situ.
Hormonal status of the tumor:
ER positive in 70% of tumor cells
PR Negative
Her-2 new: Negative
Hi-67 15% low.

Health care system here is very different from the US. She is 72 weak
little lady. Unfortunately there is profiteering going on with some
doctors, so it's harder to get an unbiased treatment program. Through my
own research, I know that she has high chance of responding to hormonal
treatment.. 2 doctors want to start with chemotherapy, then hormonal
therapy. Considering her age and the shape of her situation, I am doubtful
of starting with chemotherapy. One doctor opinion is to start with hormonal
therapy, since there is a high percentage of her body responding to that.
My mom is unaware of her condition, since she already suffers from pain,
overall weakness, and low spirits. All I want for her is having the best
option of treatment, keeping in mind the quality of her life during
difficult time.
