COVID uptick

Alas, not all of us can. My spouse tested positive first in March 2023; our PCP prescribed Paxlovid for us both, assuming I'd test positive too. I did, 2 days later. Spouse took Pax w/o problems. I had such a severe bad reaction to the first dose, I was told to stop immediately.

It's like any drug - it may work (and it did for spouse and others) and not all of us can.

The uptick in numbers are concerning: the heat dome over much of the US is causing people to stay inside with windows closed and a/c on. Interestingly, the NATO anniversary event is taking place in DC where I live. to the best of my knowledge, masks are not required. What a possibility for all those working in hotels and at the convention center to get COVID and then have all those (delegates, staff, press) from so many countries take it on planes with them. No, I'm not predicting a super-spreader. I'm stating what medical organizations are cautioning about a spread this summer and that being a possibility. The DC temps have been in the 90s for weeks and are predicted to remain so. It's humid. No one wants to be outside unless they must be.

Very very concerning !!!! I am sorry that you had a bad reaction. What happened? COVID is blowing up in Florida and many other places. I know several people who have it now . I totally hear what you’re saying . It’s brutally hot here too. I believe a worldly event like that could definitely cause a super spreader. The problem is that this illness is different in everybody . In my opinion that is definitely a reason to be concerned.
