Having Difficulty Getting Diagnosis

@sue15

I understand the frustration with geese appointments. Mayo Rochester told me it is 3 months out and longer for a specialist. What a disappointment. Now I’m considering Northwestern in Chicago. I’m near U of Utah but don’t know who to go see. My GP recommended Mayo in Rochester🙄. I don’t have your symptoms but I’ve only been diagnosed with Central Pain Amplification but my muscles and bones are degenerating and I have terrible pain body-wide. I’m thinking of getting a cortisone shot that might help with inflammation in my hands. Sorry to hear of your dilemma. In 2024, you would think the general public could receive better care. I wonder what it’s like in Canada, Europe.

getting not geese😅😅sorry!!

@sue15 not any better here in Ontario, Canada! Severe shortage of primary care doctors and specialists - compounded by Covid since many took early retirement t during the pandemic and more are retiring still, and not enough professionals to replace them.

We just moved to a new city eighteen months ago and it took us a year to find a family physician. My husband and I are the lucky very few. There are hundreds of people still looking for general physicians - never mind specialists! Our new doctor stopped taking new patients two weeks after we registered with her!

I agree. The health care system has really changed. It’s so difficult to get answers. I fill like I am on an island and know one cares. It’s so stressful and depressing. I had appointment three weeks out with a neurologist. So today , I called to verify my status and the receptionist told me it has been canceled. The reason is because she is going on vacation. I never received a call about the cancellation. Most of my appointments are 3 to 8 months out. Some days you feel like giving up.

I have never heard of central pain amplification?
What is it?
I had Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which started in the left foot but then spread.
15 years ago Mayo in Rochester knew what it was and how to treat it. Recently I’m getting bone & muscle pain & don’t know why?
Is that your symptoms?
