Again thank you for your comments and for sharing your vast experience and knowledge regarding medication.
I'm looking for an easy way out. I have a FEMORAL NECK T value of -2.4 (LEFT), -2.3 (RIGHT) and Lumbar Spine bone T value: -1.3, diagnosed Osteopenia, no previous fractures, 70 year old male, asian, lifetime fitness enthusiast, 130 lbs, 5'5 1/4", never had a fracture of anykind, and no one in my family or past family has had any fractures. Report said my Fracture Risk: 10 year major osteoporotic fracture: 5.1%, Hip fracture: 1.7%.
I was hoping I could get away with drinking soy milk, supplements, and ramping up heavier weighted exercises/fewer reps, and using that PEMF Hugo Intense to rebuild bone.
One other thing, that I wanted to do was get a TBS - Trabecular Bone Score. But evidently most of the imaging/radiology places don't offer that! I don't know why the hell not, as it seems highly important to know the micro-architecture/strength of the bone you have - osteoporosis, osteopenia or not. The TBS score also impacts the FRAX assessment. If your TBS is normal- high it certainly reduces your fracture risk.
So, if someone here has had a TBS score that seemed to indicate that their Osteopenia or Osteoporosis wasn't as bad as it seemed, I'd love to hear it.
And, if you or anyone on here has had verifiable results with the PEMF mats, I'd love to hear it: t-values before after, length of time, type and strength of PEMF device, mat, etc.
I've never had a DEXA before in my life so this was somewhat of a depressing shock. They just wanted to write me a prescription for Bisphosponates. And after looking at the patient reviews which were overwhelmingly negative regarding horrendous side effects, I didn't think it was for me.
That's the reason I was taken with the Bone Coach guy who also said he didn't take those drugs and also Dr. William Pawluk who seems to be the guru of PEMF.
Anyone care to chime in here with their thoughts, experiences, positive or negative about this?
Here is something you might be interested in as it touches on PEMF vs MBST therapy. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZJT7YWLdkNmYuvrOthcM8pjNubbvZ4B-&si=ccs6HBd8yU6L5O6M
I’m going to London in May and thinking heavily of trying 10 days of MBST. I have done PEMF treatments at my chiro office but since I am just now in the throes of osteoporosis I’m just trying several things. I honestly don’t know specifically what works best yet…..I do know that PEMF relieves back pain for me. I also believe it’s part of the astronaut program. Weight training is key part of astronaut training as they can age up to 30 years within one year of space travel! I also do “Starting Strength” which I heavily recommend if you want to do weight training. I am loving the close monitoring of my lifting and I’m getting stronger. I also recommend getting REMS echo light. I’m thinking of flying to Scottsdale to get the closest one to me. But they are popping up in more places so I may wait. I’m scheduled to start Tymlos end of Nov. this month and am hesitant of side effects but it’s scheduled none the less. Also still heavily considering HRT…..
