Hello,
Yes, my initial biopsy came back as Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia which is pre-cancer.
After my Lumpectomy, the whole mass was re-biopsied and it came back as “Extensive, intermediate DCIS” and ALSO a very rare type of Metaplastic Carcinoma.
DCIS in situ stage 0 grade 3 calcifications/dense breasts tissue
Now surgery breast is sore all the time and they think it's "fatty Necrosis" and now they see new calcifications in the other breast.
MRI scheduled for November and next mammogram.
I am nervous about everything now.
Did you get radiation treatment? Don’t be nervous, not all calcifications are cancer .
Yes I finished Radiation at the end of November. Breasts were sensitive then, but that went away. Then right before 6 month follow up to surgery mammogram a different type of soreness started. I guess if it is fatty Necrosis that can cause pain.
Like everyone else, I want some closure and to move on. Not to be always worried what's next.
The AI meds are difficult too- the thought of five years is hard to fathom. Just switched from Anastrozole that had me crippled to letrozole. I also already have osteopenia so will see this August what these drugs are doing to my bones.
This BC is a whole new world.
Thanks for replying.
Hi , it seems we’ve had a similar case. I had DCIS in my right breast, 5mm, had it removed only needed 5 radiation treatments. I think the worst for me afterwards was what is called cording. I’m having PT for that and it’s helped tremendously. I just started the anti estrogen pill, Anastrzole since my cancer was estrogen receptor positive. It’s only been 2 days so I’m hoping side effects if any are mild. I’ll be on it for 5 years.

Hi! Yes it does! I had more radiation treatments. It was 21 total. I do still feel soreness from it , but not as sore as when I got the treatment. I have to start tamoxifen since I am pre menopausal. I have been putting that off due to side effects. I work during the day , sometimes long hours and I worry about getting nausea , dizziness etc. during work. But I really just need to take it. I have heard of post radiation side effects. I am happy you are getting PT and it’s Helping! Does cording eventually go away for good? How long after radiation did it start? You are lucky that you only had 5 treatments . That’s great! I was so ready to be done with it at 21. How are you feeling with the AI they gave you? Any side effects yet?
Hi Christy,
The cording I believe was due to my surgery where it wrapped around my breast and kind of was stuck at the scar wasn’t draining so the PT therapist helped with massaging and pushing to get the draining out and popping the chords. I still have a little bit left, but not nearly as much she’s been very helpful.
I’ve read that as long as you take your medication the AI medication at the same time every day it should work. I’ve only had three doses of my anastrozole. That’s because I’m postmenopausal. Your medication is premenopausal. I’ve heard some side effects like the nausea, dizziness, and insomnia if I experience any of those, I’ve heard it’s best to take it at night because you’re sleeping those affects away so fingers crossed and yes, take the medication and, I really hope it goes well for you as well .
Hope your surgery went well. Hugs.
Hello! I’m home now after my lumpectomy yesterday. So far all is good, I did have to deal with extreme nausea yesterday due to the anesthesia but it wore off (finally!). I am able to walk on my own now but definitely taking it easy and listening to my body.
