That was quite a turnaround @mselby1847 but it has saved his bladder for now. That PE risk with bladder cancer is very real. My husband was on blood thinners until his bladder was removed and all cancer gone. Prostate was removed with that surgery as well and he did have a low grade cancer present there. I hope your husband's cancer remains under control for many years. Did he need to have chemo due to the invasiveness of his prostate cancer? My husband is now on every 6 month CT scans watching for metastatic disease. He has had lots of issues and complications from neobladder surgery but is still glad he chose that over urostomy.

The prostatectomy took the nerve bundles and 25 lymph nodes as well as the prostate, of course. No cancer cells in any of the lymph nodes so they determined no metastasis and no chemo or radiation. We were glad for that as it gives a better outcome should he eventually need his bladder removed. He will be on blood thinners until he has zero chance of bladder cancer (which may be never). He HAS to work until he is 65 in order to keep his insurance as we can’t afford self insurance. His work insurance still has a $10k annual out of pocket and costs $400 a month for just him. So he has four more years to work and doesn’t want to deal with a urostomy bag as a truck driver if he can avoid it. So we go every 4 mo to check.
