The same thing is happpening to me. At the mere mention of covid or long-covid, she shuts down and starts with the psychiatric referral. She overlooked my pneumonia and is basically ignoring my various vitamin deficits. It's turned into yet another DIY project, except for the fantastic support from the Urgent Care staff.
With so much information about Long Covid now, I don't understand why some doctors turn their back to the patient. I am so happy to find this support group. I had covid in 2020, 2022 and 2023 was the worst, but never ended in the hospital. I am 68 years old healthy always never took any medication. Now doctors want to prescribe medication without a diagnostic. I will get into a Long Covid Clinic in September and I hope that they will be able to help me.
I have been sweating buckets since I got my covid vaccines, and although I've seen loads of specialist nobody seems to know what could help me. My bed, my clothes are pretty much always drench in sweat. The sweating episodes recur everytime I change position, like from sitting to standing, from lying down on my stomach to turning over on my side...I sweat from all over my body, nothing like the little menopausal hot flashes I had 15 years ago. Has anyone else experienced these night sweats after the covid vaccines or after getting covid ?
@frouke I'm so sorry your physician is falling back on the “it’s all in your head” diagnosis for lack of better answers. I’ve been there before and it is not a healthy place to be. One of my most severe Long COVID symptoms was heart racing/palpitations. My doc prescribed 25mg Metoprolol to see if it would be beneficial, though was concerned about a possible lowering of my blood pressure. It was an amazing turnaround for me. Where my heart would spike from a resting heartrate of 80’s to 90’s to over 200 beats per minute without exertion, at the worst, my resting heartrate decreased to 60’s to 70’s with relatively no spikes at all. My blood pressure has remained steady. I call it a win.
Whenever I read about any new possible treatments for my multiple Long COVID symptoms, I have always brought them to my doc’s attention for consideration. They may not be aware of them, and they usually are appreciative of the information even if they don’t think it would apply to me.
I wish you the best in caring for yourself through this. It is such a challenge but you have a wide community of support faced with the same. Blessings! You are not alone.
