No question is silly. We all contribute something here, and questions is the means by which we learn. Having said that, I don't know the answer, but I look forward to the comments. 😉

I am just recently off prednisone after 2 years but as the dose got under 5mg I had a lot of pain in my thighs and my knees hasn't really resolved so am going to a musculoskeletal physician but I am aware my thigh muscles have gotten very weak while on prednisone so I am walking short distances often and doing a squat exercise and hoping it eventually resolves. Prednisone ended up giving me more problems than PMR !! This is a great site for keeping you sane about what you experience with prednisone

I have been diagnosed with Polymyalgia Rheumatica and suffered with extreme pain in my thighs and buttocks for about two months and now it has subsided quite a bit. I am on Prednisone now. I can relate to trying to pull up pants or even sit in a car seat for any prolonged time. The illness I have also caused pain in other areas and that has also receded somewhat.

@besmith57 I had severe pain in my thighs and buttocks. It hurt to sit, lie on my back, etc. The Prednisone has relieved a lot of that but still feel it slightly in the buttocks. I am on 20 mg of Prednisone and dealing with the side effects. Not a journey I would wish on anyone. In summary I doubt it is your back but an MRI should resolve any doubt.

Perimenopause did this to me. I confused it with my RA but as soon as I started estradiol a HRT those symptoms disappeared within a week
