My femur surgeon is trying to set me up for me an appointment with joint replacement specialist. The problem with all specialist is the wait time.

Well I do wish you all the best. And the wait time for specialists, well at least orthopedic specialists, has gone way up in the last few years. I waited 2 or 3 months for my TKRs once I made the decision to have them in 2022. Friends tell me that wait time is now closer to 6 months, and it can take months just to get an appt for an office visit.
