Google "Dead slow taper."
It is a tried and true method for getting off prednisone for many. It takes quite a while but seems helpful so far for me. I saw it on the PMR support group on FB. Good luck to you!

@yogabonnie I too am trying to stay off new drugs although under a lot of pressure to do so. Can't take any more side effects.

I haven't ever found any research study that says this method works any better than any other slow tapering method. It is a "slow tapering method" so there is nothing wrong with it. I have my doubts about whether it is any better than any other slow tapering method for getting off prednisone.

I showed this method to my rheumatologist once. She said I shouldn't believe everything I read on the internet. Since she was writing my prescription for prednisone, I had to go with what she recommended.
