Where to go for DIEP reconstructive breast surgery?
Rochester Mayo is booked out for 2 years! So why even advertise that you preform it! 2 years is ridiculous! And why aren’t doctors learning this method when it seems like the best option!

How far out are you booked for your surgery in Austin?
Actually, I am undecided at this time. After further research, I am NOT opting to have DIEP flap done. I want to keep my abs! I flew to The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL and met with Breast Oncologist there. I fly back next week for an MRI and meet with the surgeon. Depending on my MRI results, I will either have a lumpectomy or DMX with implants or flat. I am leaning more to go flat due to possibility of implant illness or a cancer associated with implants. My DCISion score was high at 9.2, so that means they recommends radiation, which I would like to avoid. (Another reason I am leaning towards DMX) There are pros and cons to each.
