This is my formula for keeping the skin around my stoma happy:
Put on Nitrile gloves.
Use adhesive remover wipe to help remove old pouch.
Wipe off excess fecal matter on stoma with water only.
Squirt some saline water on stoma.
Dry area. Especially around bottom of stoma.
Wipe skin with SurePrep Protective wipe.
Squirt stoma powder all around bottom of stoma.
Squeeze stoma paste around bottom of stoma. If it gets sticky put some stoma powder on it.
Wipe/brush off any excess on skin around stoma with dry cloth.
Spray around the entire area with SurePrep Rapid Dry.
Check that all is dry after a few seconds.
Affix the wafer/pouch on skin.
I also use a Coloplast barrier strip 12076 along the bottom edge and sides to prevent leaks.
I use Hollister CeraPlus pouch either one or two piece.
I do this every other day after a shower.
(I find there is some odor if I don’t change it after a shower.)
I change the pouch every other day.
I haven’t had any skin issues since using this routine.
I hope some of this overly long post will be useful to you.

I use stoma powder and skin barrier wipes to protect skin around stoma. Switched to stoma barrier rings from stoma paste because paste doesn't hold up as well for me Also barrier strips along bottom of ostomy. Hollister two piece works well for me. Best of luck.
