@mjack45

Just started with Fosamax, 70mg once a week. I am having terrible side effects. Started on Monday. (Followed all instructions to the T). By evening I had terrible leg pain and was unable to even get up from my chair. I have never had such a reaction to a drug before. My bone density test came back last week showing I had moved from osteopenia to osteoporosis so my doctor called in the rx for me. I am normally a very healthy 79 yr old female. Do not have any illnesses other than a little blood pressure, but that has been under control for many years.
I am on my 7th day of misery with pain so bad I am unable to sleep. I called the doctor and she said just to stop taking it. Don’t worry, I certainly won’t take it again.
But how long will it take for this drug to leave my system? I feel like it could have created a blood clot in my left leg it hurts so badly. I have never had such pain.

I wonder why they didn't put you on a bone building med first. Can you find an endocrinologist or rheumatologist who is up to date on the latest research and sequencing....

Hi mjack45, I am 67 and took Fosamax for three months. Four days after the last dose I had right hip, thigh and knee pain so bad it made me vomit. 10/10 on the pain scale. This continued for several weeks with multiple doctor visits, 2 xrays, an ultrasound and an MRI. Nothing showed up. I took a mix of Gabapentin and Codeine for the pain and slowly weaned myself off. TlIt's taken three months but I am almost back to normal. After lots of online research I now have an 'arsenal' of Natto (K2) prunes (K1 plus lots of other goodies) D3, marine collagen, extra protein, ground almonds, chia seed, flax seed and I am about to sign up at the gym for weight training. (I started out lifting bricks and dog food cans until I found the right gym programme! 🙂
