I’m sorry about what your son is going through. I don’t know your area is but, I do know, that if you’re going to do something so drastic to your body, find the best, reputable doctor possible. Shame on the Dr. for not informing your son how to proceed after surgery. You have to be your own advocate.

Amen to advocacy! His surgery was emergent, due to duodenal bleeding ulcers. As an elective surgery, I would never want to have to consider this procedure. It is a lifetime obligation to care for one's self. I just wish he had been given proper instructions afterwards. However, we know now, and trust God to see him through.
