Cymbalta did help my pain and overall that was great...but it did make me feel weird. Can't really describe it. However I have issues with constipation and after 5 days of having no bowel movement I stopped it (took a Dulcolax with my daily stool softener and 'amatiza). I went 9 days after my TKR and was backed up to my distal colon so this was not an option for me. I only took 20mg then tried 10mg. Still a no go. I do take 900mg Gabapentin at bedtime and that is well tolerated. I have to be careful with any Nsaids as well and Cox 2 inhibitors which I don't really take. Best of luck. It's hard when the options are so limited.

Oh man. I just got passed 2 years of chronic constipation. I cannot tolerate it. I thought Cymbalta caused diarrhea. I can deal with that better than constipation. I’m so confused…. Hard decisions.

My rheumatologist said all drugs have side effects and he was dissapointed that I wouldn’t take cymbalta I’m already taking gabapentin. After reading the side effects it’s a definite no for me

Hello I have severe Adhesive Arachnoiditis & have severe constipation issues. My Dr prescribed Cymbalta 30mg. I couldn't go to the bathroom & doubled over with gas pains. Retired RN, so i know opioids cause constipation. It also gave me a weird, metallic taste & an even drier mouth than usual. I am also sensitive to a lot of medications. My pain is so bad, i can't get out of bed. keep going to ER for Dilaudid My pain management NP, not much help. Doctor prescribed 30 mg, but said he wanted me to go to therapeutic dose, which is 60 mg Not taking Cymbalta, as i just can't tolerate any more symptoms. He probably won't be too happy with me

900 mg of Gabapentin sounds like a humongous amount, to me. I took a much smaller amount after rotator cuff surgery for pain. Was on it about a week and started noticing that I was having severe memory loss problems. It was scary! Thought about it and realized the Gabapentin was the only thing that could be causing it, and I stopped immediately. Almost immediately my memory improved and went back to normal.
I have been taking half of a 50mg Desyrel (Trazodone) pill for a while now because I have a horrible time going to sleep and staying asleep. I took Desyrel (and Flexeril) back in the early 1990's for pain and depression from an injury. I would take the Flexeril now except they don't recommend it for people over 65.
Hope you get to feeling better. I have to tell people what happened to me and Gabapentin. Another doctor later tried to give it to me and I refused. Had a couple girlfriends that had bad experiences with it too! Good luck!
