It never goes away..you might try masking sounds machine..there is no cure..I have had it for over 30 years...sometimes makes me very anxious..

@bettersleep68 I have mostly gotten used to it, and it fluctuates. I tried overnight rain sounds and it gave me terrible vertigo so not an option!
