Total Knee Replacement

I had TKR 13 months ago and 2 surgeons have called it a "failed" surgery.. I have experienced hematomas, pain, stiffness, numbness and overall disappointment. I was in physical therapy for 11 months.
Two days ago, I began to hear a snapping or clicking sound in the implant when bending my knee or turning over in bed.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes! I'm about 2 years 7 months out from TKR. Still experiencing stiffness; cannot fully kneel; numbness on right side to the middle; front to back and I constantly have to readjust my leg after 5-10 minutes of no movement (i.e., when sitting or reclining). My doc only seems interested in the physical hardware he implanted which he says is "perfect" . Knee feels loose but extremely tight, full feeling Now i walk with a cane full time and doc still says it's perfect.

My first tkr was two sizes to big I struggled to gain movement…,at like 6 weeks dr did manipulation made things worse …..at like 3 months got second opinion when dr blamed me for not getting anywhere said I was not pushing through the pain….new dr with original dr x-ray told me implant was to big for my knee … scheduled revision but had to wait one year ….in my experience some dr full of themselves my first dr would not admit any fault …..sounds like you are experiencing what I did , you have to find someone to listen …,meanwhile just keep moving …. Hope you find dr to listen

I agree that some surgeons are full of themselves. My surgeon is supposed to be the guru of knee replacement surgery in my state. He would not accept any responsibility for my complex case, so he handed me off to another surgeon in his group so that "another pair of eyes" could take a look. The second surgeon was more patient and listened to my story, but told me to keep taking physical therapy.

I had bilateral knee replacements. 1 year later had to have rods in right knee due to severe hyperextension in both knees. 3 years out now and finally got rid of the most pain but still have numbness around right knee and the leg is now 1” longer than the left. Doc refuses to do rods in 2nd knee because I had severe pain too long. Said at my age-74–it wasn’t worth the additional pain and suffering. So now I have 1” lifts in left shoes and still have hyperextension and a slight drop foot in the left leg.

I know it is very frustrating…. But if you truly want unbiased second opinion go out of his group … dr don’t say anything different when they are in the same group….i understand you have tuff case so seek out someone who handles tuff cases…. I know frustration thinking you found best dr and when things go wrong they are not there for you….like I said I have been there had to wait year to have revision… even now I still get stiff but I am a very functioning stiff person …exercise and ice are my saving grace…..I have more scar tissue due to having it done twice so I feel I am constantly trying to brake through it…. But like I said don’t give up …. Continue to move find another dr second opinion.
