Decipher test: How long does it take to get results?
I my first biopsy I had 3=4 in less then 10% of one core. I sent it to Dr Epstein at John Hopkins and he downgraded it to 3+3. I sent it to Dicipher but it was to small of a sample for a decipher test. Then I change doctor and went to Nebraska Med center. They looked at the original biopsy and said it was a 3+4. My second biopsy was a transperineal biospy they found the original 3+4 in one core less then 2% of one core and another 3+3 in 20% of another core. I asked my Doctor to send in for a decipher test of the 3+3 core. that was May 15 and I have not received the result back. How long does this test take to complete? Also who should believe on the original test John Hopkins or Nebraska Med thanks

Having advanced prostate cancer at first diagnosis is hardly a positive thing, but I guess it's a small blessing that I never had to struggle with the stressful questions I see many of you with early-stage diagnoses dealing with, like "How serious is this?" (very), "Should I wait and see?" (can't), "Do I need radiation?" (absolutely), "Do I need ADT and ARSI?" (yes), "How long do I need to be on them?" (forever), etc.
There's no fear of overreacting when worse has already come to worst, but when things aren't too bad, it must be hard knowing you'll do harm if you make the wrong choice, but you don't have enough information to be sure of the right one.
During my small-plane flying years, I remember that borderline weather was the most stressful. Good weather? Go. Bad weather? Postpone. Marginal weather? I hated to cancel a flight for nothing, but I also didn't want to star in an accident report, so I'd go back and forth, stressing myself out.
Three weeks. Call Decipher https://decipherbio.com/decipher-prostate/patients/decipher-prostate-overview/ and ask for the full grid, otherwise you'll only get a small summary. You want both. Also they could send you the results directly, sometimes results languish in a medical office until personnel processes them.
I had biopsy May 13 and haven’t got the Decipher test results back yet either. Meant to ask about it today while I was there for radiation and forgot.
As mentioned above, check with your doctor’s office. Mine came back rather quickly (17 days after the biopsy) and was faxed to my urologist. It immediately showed up on my patient portal where I saw it. During my next visit with the urologist, he was unaware that his office had received it already. I let him know that I had seen it and he then went and found it.
I had a Decipher Test in early December 2023, and got the results about a month later with a scoring grid and other helpful information.
What is the "full grid" you mention? Please explain.
The report you receive isn't the full report and is called a grid. Additional pages highlight higher and lowe expression profiles for the genetic changes noted and compares those to 3.000 patients with tumors the most similar to yours. It cites clinical trials most revelent to your tumor. And notes the studies your profile is based upon.
It's just more information on your tumor.
Most doctors don't request the full grid, and they send you the 4 page report with the most significant summation and send that report to you.
