Doug Lucas and Algaecal Plus???
recent you tube has Doug Lucas teaming up with Algaecal and recommending Algaecal Plus (no strontium). I was surprised!

I have watched quite a few of his videos and he does share a lot of information. His program is too pricey for me ($18,000) so I get what I can from YouTube.
@windyshores - Thanks for the name drop of Shuhart. I will try to look him up . I am always curious to hear from different people so I can listen and assimilate that info with what I already have heard - then think about it my own to see how , or if I am inclined to make some changes . It’s always good to widen ones available input. Knowledge is power - why not make it built upon a broader spectrum!!
Someone asked about synthroid..............I can't find the message.
I have been taking it for about 15 years........but I do see that it is not great on bones??? I would like
to go off but I have a thyroid non-cancer tumor. Regarding bones, I had a bad parathyroid and it is now gone thanks to the norman clinic. The detection of the bad one is most important and the nuclear scientist was great.
Anyway, here is the synthroid site............ https://www.rxabbvie.com/pdf/synthroid.pdf
Sorry I lost your message................Marceen
the problem with synthroid or any other thyroid medication has to do with dosing too high. If your TSH is under .4 you may experience bone loss. As long as you are dosed properly and fall within normal range it should be okay. I like to keep my range above 1 and in the middle of the normal range values of about 2-2.5 as I tend to feel best in this range and being above 1 gives me some peace of mind that it likely isn't effecting my bones.
I agree. The price is quite prohibitive.
Dr. Lucas recently did his best supplemets for 2024 . He really came out for Algae cal products. It makes me really wonder about it. I wonder if anyone else is leary him coming out so strong about this. I think we need more info on strontium . Interested on everyone's take on all of this.
Keith McCormick, in a recent video, advises against strontium. And as we know, since it is denser than calcium and replaces it in bones, strontium makes the DEXA results look better than they are. The ranelate form was banned in Europe for awhile due to cardiovascular risks but the generic is back there, for cases where people cannot tolerate anything else.
There is nothing "natural" about ingesting strontium. The therapeutic dose is hundreds of times what our bodies need, I read (in "Great Bones."
@ans, I loved Dr. Shuhart - wish I lived in the PNW although I think he said he's not taking new patients b/c he's so busy.
I liked Shuhart too. I am grateful the name was repeated because I could not remember it!
I am trying to understand what about the program could possibly justify the cost.
The Biannual blood work probably gets billed to our insurance company.
Physician-led review means a PA reviews. Hormone replacement, peptide, and other supplements are probably covered by our insurance or self-pay. Wonder what the free functional test is.
