There’s not research/evidence that shows supplements, diet, or exercise are as effective at lowering cholesterol as statins if it’s seriously high, but it can help.

Zetia is a non-statin cholesterol lowering medication. It has a different mechanism of action, but it’s not as potent as a statin if you wanted to ask your doctor about that.

Plant sterols have some evidence (I looked into this for my dad as he is statin intolerant). He tried Pure Encapsulations Cholesto-pure. It’s expensive, and unfortunately he couldn’t tolerate it.

Similar to the oatmeal suggestion, his cardiologist suggested Metamucil as a fiber supplement. But instead he takes a generic brand of Sun Fiber, which he tolerates better.

@emo Zetia is usually utilized along with a statin when prescribed as it is not a true statin but performs another function for stubborn cholesterol cases.
