Chronic pain

I take low-dose morphine 15 mg extended release two times daily I have been on this dose. I don’t know how long now constipation is horrible. I am no longer getting any relief from anything that I have been doing. I do have a pain stimulator. I have two new hips and I also have peripheral artery disease and I’m just at a loss as to, what to do or where to go for help Pain Clinic but I don’t like

What have you already tried to relieve your constipation? Do you take any other medications or supplements? Is there pain medication in your stimulator and if so, what type?

I am on pain medication 40 mg per day. I started having pain in both right hip and left hip area plus both knees right after Memorial Day. In addition to pain meds, I’m now taking 2000 mg of Tylenol per day. There are days I can’t walk. I am at a complete loss as to what I can do to alleviate this pain. I’ve been suffering for thirty years and this is the worst. I guess I’ll have to see my PC and get her advice. I have fiber myalgia, AS, L5 and 7 are collapsing, and I hate to think about what is happening. I’m inoperable. I know the pure hell of enduring pain. I wish you the best as you try to navigate around the chronic pain. 🙏

I wish I had the pain in the stimulator itself. That would be a nice thing that would probably work better than taking oral medications so I also take Linzess 145 mg capsule one time a day and I just get so frustrated.

@maggs i was in the same boat a few years back. I was switched to buprenorphine patch which is replaced every 7 days and give 24/7 relief. It is a common step to go from MS to buprenorphine in pain management speak. It also did not case similar GI issues with me.

I have had to resort to taking tylenol #3 for pain from Shingles this past month and I have found that if I alternate taking Senokot tablets and eating 6 prunes one night, with drinking a small can of prune juice the next night, etc. etc. that I get relief from being very constipated from the codeine in the tylenol #3.
I hope this helps. Also you can try drinking, 10 ounces of lemon juice, 4 ounces of prune juice and 2 Senokot tablets. I have had good luck with both ! I hope this helps. Its bad enough to be in pain and constipated besides. !

Relistor is a relatively new drug for opioid-induced constipation. Movantik also treats this. Relistor is very expensive but you should be able to get it free if your income is limited. Check with your prescriber if an expensive drug is prescribed about this. I forget who they contact but I got one year of Relistor for free.

It works ok, I guess. Better than nothing. And then do the usual - fiber, water, exercise, prunes pr prune juice - maybe a laxative if you really need help.

All the best to you.
