My Miraculous Recovery from Neuropathy

I am a Triple Negative Cancer survivor. I had my first breast removal 7 years ago, and my next was 3 years ago. I suffered Neuropathy which started after treatment of my 1st surgery, and after the 2nd surgery it really got worse.

I first took Gabapentin, then Lyrica along with Propanolol. These meds still did not eliminate the pain, dizziness, and unbalance. I was scheduled to go to a Neurosurgeon to see if there was anything else that could be done. He examined me and scheduled an MRI with contrast.

On February 12, 2024 I went in to get MRI. I advised that I may be allergic to dye because when I was getting tests for my last surgery I was getting an MRI on my breast and all of a sudden I could not breathe and had to be pulled out. At that time they could not attribute it to anything but the uncomfortable position they have you in to get the test done. Anyway, almost immediately upon getting the contrast in I was having trouble breathing so I had them get me out of machine. I actually died and had to be resuscitated. I then spent 3 days in the hospital. I read the report from the hospital and saw that I was also diagnosed with Fatal Kidney disease. I made an appointment with my regular Doctor. He immediately ran blood work, and said there was no longer any Kidney damage showing up, and I told him my dizziness and Neuropathy pain had been relieved as well. To this day, 4 months after being resuscitated I have quit my medications for Neuropathy, have no pain, and no dizziness or unbalance episodes. My blood pressure has also come down from being in the 175 t0 190s to 120. I feel that my whole body has had a reset after being resuscitated.

I shared this information with my oncologist today and he stated in all his years of practice he has never heard of anyone recovering from neuropathy. I know being resusicated is not a treatment that anyone would ask for, but I am wondering if there could be some kind of brain stimulation that could be done to help others recover from this crippling problem. This is why I decided to share my experience with this Chat room.

That’s fascinating. Like a brain re-set. It seems possible to me. Thanks for sharing that.

Check out MRI focused ultrasound and neuropathy. There have been clinical trials, but it hasn’t been FDA approved yet for the treatment of neuropathy. It has, however, already been approved for the treatment of Parkinson’s, prostate cancer, and other illnesses. This might be exactly what you’re talking about when you say resetting the brain.

Congratulations on your recovery from PN.
I have small fiber neuropathy in my 4 extremities but also severe anemia since 2022, left untreated by doctor. Since I changed doctors this year, the new one ordered blood tests and checked my iron, it was very bad so they had to give me transfusions and iron infusions for 5 weeks. Therefore anything that makes you feel weak and fatigued on top of the pain should be investigated. And my neuropathy was from severe anemia, I no longer have, due to my blood going normal. I started exercising as well and I feel much better, I still take the painkiller Lyrica once a day a small dose. And 3 months ago I left all sugar, all pasta, all rice and all bread. I have felt relaxed, I don’t have much pain doing treadmill and Pilates exercises for my back. My feet still hurt and my back too, but I would say I have recovered a 60% capacity. And I take all my supplements and I eat yogurt and kefir with probiotics. All together good and exercise have helped me a lot. Just because I was in pain, burning pain I decided to star walking, and also taking probiotics.

Can taking Clonazepam cause peripheral neuropathy

My reason for sharing this incident was not to tell people to die and be resuscitated to relieve the Neuropathy, but to share that there may be a way for Neurologists or other medical practitioners to study the possibility of developing something like maybe the pacemaker but for your nervous system that could rewire the nervous system to breach the damage causing the Neuropathy, or maybe better Chemo treatments to prevent this disorder as mine was caused by Chemo therapy.

I completely agree with you. There is so much about the brain we do not know. I think it’s the same for treating PTSD. There must be a brain link that could be accessed. Thanks for your post.

I started taking Clonazepam long after I already had neuropathy. I still take it so I can sleep w/o pain at night.

Has anyone developed peripheral neuropathy after stating taking Clonazepam.

Injured peripheral nerves can recover but it may take time and patience. I injured my lower back which included the lumbar nerve outflow. With time the nerves have healed
