Evenity treatment and its effectiveness
Can those of you on Evenity tell me exactly how much improvement you have had and what, if any, side effects you have experienced. My doctor has recommended Evenity, and i am trying to make a decision. Thank you.

Actually my Rheumatologist offered no info on Evenity except to say it is a bone building drug. Met him twice .. once for initial checkup and second to go over my bone density. After that, his administrator worked to get the approval. What I have mostly learned is from reading the Evenity website, this group, and a Facebook’s Evenity group. I really appreciate all your help, insight, and advice. Thank you.
I have had 4 rounds so far. I alternate arms each time, take antihistamine and Tylenol prior to injection to combat site inflammation, and the nurses inject very slowly. No more painful than most injections if done well. I have suffered no obvious side effects that I can pinpoint, other than a little headache the day of or following for which I just take Tylenol or ibuprofen. The website makes it sound much scarier than it is! Good luck!
I had no adverse reactions. My injection sites were sore for a few days, but no worse than a tetanus shot. I opted to have on Evenity injection in my left arm and the other in my stomach. It worked out well!
I've posted somewhere else on this board, but can't remember where.
I just had my 12 th injections of Evenity and will have a DEXA scan on Monday and going to see improved scores.
I had my 1st Evenity injections in my arms, but had significant discomfort 4 hours after, with increasing discomfort by bedtime. I had to sleep in a recliner with my arms across my chest. The discomfort lasted about a week, though it decreased incrementally each day. I have a very high pain tolerance, so I was shocked at how uncomfortable I was.
For my 2nd injections, I requested that they be given in my abdomen (Evenity literature recommends rotating sites between arms, abdomen, and thighs). So much better--I was amazed! I had very little discomfort and I could wear jeans and other waist clothes immediately.
So I had 3rd-12th injections in my abdomen with very little discomfort as with the 2nd.
The needles are tiny, warming a bit helps, and ask them to inject slowly due to the thickness of the medication.
Best of luck! I hope your 1st injection goes very well!
How did your Evenity treatment go and how are you feeling today? Hopefully well. Did your Dr order any bone markers ahead of treatment? My Endo is recommending Evenity or Fosamax and said she wouldn't do any bone markers first because they'd "all be normal". That was a surprise to me.
Have you been on prior osteoporosis drugs before starting Evenity?
Years ago I tried Fosamax but ended up with a gastric ulcers.
You said "sometimes a dr wold like to use bone markers to monitor preliminary response". I thought all drs would do bone markers before starting any treatment. But an endocrinologist I saw recently suggested either Evenity or Fosamax for me and said she wouldn't do any bone markers before treatment because they "would all be normal", which I don't understand.
Did you have GERD, pain or other discomfort before realizing you had developed an ulcer? How long were you on Fosamax before that happened?
No I did not have Gerd but I did have discomfort relating to Gerd symptoms after two months of Fosamax. Had an endoscopy to see what was going on and was told I was developing gastric ulcers and to quit taking the Fosamax.
