@patsyh, welcome. Helpful tips, thank you. May I ask what type of ostomy you have? I look forward to learning more about you and from you?

Hi Colleen,
I had APR surgery this past November, and have been learning how to live with an ileostomy for seven months now. Prior to surgery I had simultaneous radiation and chemotherapy for a period of 5 weeks for a tumor that was located very low in my rectum. I have Lynch syndrome, and It was determined that the best treatment for full recovery was total removal of my colon and rectum. I mainly struggle with the issues related to high very liquid output, and have tried a number of barrier options. At the present time I am using a barrier that can also be used by urostomy patients and has a stronger adhesive. I use it with a round donut shaped adhesive barrier seal and have good results thus far. I find it is also important to change my barrier every few days. The group has been so helpful for me! Thank you for being in touch!
