Hi Beanione,
My endocrinologist told me that she'd never heard of hunger as a result of Evenity (eye roll). You and I know that it definitely does.
How many months of Evenity have you had? One indication of bone loss is weight loss, so gaining weight can be a really good sign. Bones have weight, so increased bone density=increased weight.
A few months before starting Evenity, I began forcing myself to eat more, and I put on a few pounds. Shortly after the first set of injections, I suddenly couldn't eat enough. I used the added hunger, like you, to really pack in more "good" food, and I stopped looking at the scale. After 3 sets of injections, I let the doctor weigh me, and I had increased my weight by 10% from the previous year.
I'm not as hungry now, but I'm making myself eat the same amount, and diversity of food to keep feeding my bones.
I've had 5 treatments, and I'm finding that the weight is shifting on my body--decreasing around the middle, and moving--with exercise--to muscle, and hopefully bone. Our bodies can't get the materials it needs for growth from air, so I really think the hunger makes sense. Keep eating! 🙂
Hi Hopeful,
Unfortunately I can’t tell if my weight gain is all Evenity or if Tymlos should take some of the blame. With Tymlos, I was in so much pain that I didn’t really care about what I ate for a span of about 6 months. At the time, I didn’t know Tymlos was the pain culprit, and, for the first time in my life, I was truly scared about my health and life. I didn’t even think about getting on a scale . . . But, I did get hold of that and lost some weight in time to start Evenity . . . and then the hunger monster kicked in. However, I can now exercise to combat the weight gain and eat more for nourishment rather than just to eat.
I’ll be getting my LAST injections on the 27th of June - the year went fast!!! So yippie kai aye! My hunger comes and goes now and some days I am ravenous and some days I don’t feel much like eating. Is it Evenity or just getting older, lol?
Happy to hear you’re building muscle along with bone - we need our muscles to be strong to support our bones, so both are important; another reason I’m concerned about my belly/abs. I do think my belly is slowly beginning to get back into shape, tho’. It’s surely good to eat when we’re hungry - as you said, we don’t get stronger from air. Gotta go eat now 😬.
Cheers, Hopeful! Thanks for your reply. I hope the sun is shining wherever you are.
