Posted by myskye @myskye, Oct 18, 2016

I had a Nissen Fundoplication procedure done last Oct. I have not have success with it at all. The wrap was to tight and I have to have a dilation done almost every two months. I am looking at have a reversal done and wonder if anyone has had this done and if so, did things improve Thank You

My 20 year old son, who had to have Nissan Fundolplication when he was 11 months old. Then due to age needed another at the age of 18 which was too tight and has since cause numerous health problems. We finally found a surgeon at the Mayo in Jacksonville. My son's did an Augmentation with Linxs device. I would highly recommend you talk with a GI surgeon. As it's magnetic beads rather than the wrap.

How did it work out?

I had fundoplication last April. It took awhile, but I'm almost back to normal. Except I don't eat as much, since fundo is like having your stomach stapled. So I lost almost 40 pounds and have kept it off.

Hi Group
I am a 68 year old male. I have been dealing with reflux disease for the last 25 years. I have had 3 fundoplications over the years. This process has not worked for me. I always ended up on PPI's and a hiatal hernia.

Thanks for letting us all know. Like I said before, not many people come on here to tell how successful their surgery was. Mostly, how bad it went.

I assume taking down a Nissen means an operation pretty much like the original Nissen Fundo? I had that operation about five years ago. Lasted for about two years and then my reflux/hiatal hernia problems came back worse than they were before. Didn't know the Nissen could be reversed. Any more information you can give me?

I have an appointment for the early part of November to discuss the reversal. At my last dilation my doctor stated that he knew of a doctor in Portland Maine and a few in Boston that can do the reversal. I live in Bangor Maine so either area would work for me. I have had so many problems since the wrap i am leary about another surgery which is why i would like to speak to others that have had the reversal. Thank you for your concern and quick reply. Denise

I'm looking into doing a reversal. It's the worst surgery I've ever gotten done. I have terrible problems swallowing pills always getting stuck. I burp all the time. Too much gas. I can't vomit and when I feel like I have to it hurts so bad. I have an appointment with the surgeon that did it on January 22nd ill let you know. Oh as soon as I eat it comes right back out
